# What is Recovery Mode?

Recovery Mode is a troubleshooting feature that helps restore your Zimi device if it encounters problems during a firmware update or stops working properly.

**When to use Recovery Mode:**
* Your device has a red LED indicator light
* A firmware update failed or was interrupted
* Your device is unresponsive after an update

**How to use Recovery Mode:**
1. Open the Zimi app and navigate to the main menu
2. Select **Recovery Mode**
3. Choose your preferred recovery method:

**Automatic Recovery** This option will automatically detect any devices showing a red LED indicator and reapply the firmware update. Keep your phone close to the device while the recovery is in progress.

**Manual Recovery** This option allows you to scan the QR code on the device that has the red LED indicator for a more targeted recovery process.
Once the recovery process completes, your device should return to normal operation with a white or blue LED indicator.
